Kowalski Recruitment (KR) is looking for a candidate with sound knowledge or industry experience in a crop protection R&D field (weeds, pest or plant pathology) to fill the role of Crop Protection Manager. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of commercial principles including finance, brand management, IP management, licensing and deal development. Experience in project negotiation, facilitation and management in a relevant industry, as well as highly developed presentation, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and develop others is also desirable.


While you will be employed by KR you will work directly to the Senior Manager Crop Protection, and be responsible for identifying strategic and regional RD&E requirements in crop protection to reduce the impact of pests, diseases and weeds. You will also be responsible for identifying regional crop protection constraints and develop business cases that address those constraints that impact growers, as well as facilitating regional crop protection R&D with diverse stakeholders to reach an optimal outcome for growers. The Crop Protection Manager’s purpose is to build strong crop protection business cases nationally and regionally that create enduring profitability for Australian grain growers.

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in Agricultural Science, Science or equivalent and/or demonstrated 5+ years’ experience in a crop protection or related industry field
  • Strong analytical skills and the capacity to leverage off external expertise and think strategically, including the ability to provide sound project and issue advice
  • An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, as well as work autonomously
  • Ability to synthesise information and provide a summary and recommended options

You will need to be an Australian citizen, prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical, and to travel as and when required.
