Registrar

NSW Architects Registration Board

The NSW Architects Registration Board is a statutory authority tasked with the role of registering architects, informing the public, protecting the consumer and promoting a better understanding of architecture in the community of NSW. It now has an opportunity to appoint a new Registrar to lead the organisation.

The Registrar will operate at an executive level to manage a small team dedicated to innovation and professionalism, with a particular emphasis on achieving the objects of the Act, and the strategic objectives set by a cross-sectoral Board of 11 people.  A high level of excellence in managing the stakeholders, reputation and finances of the Board - which is totally funded by fees paid by architects, architectural firms and corporations - will be a key expectation of the Registrar.

The Registrar is responsible to the Board for:

  • providing a high level of collaborative leadership across the profession;
  • promoting effective relationships and links with architects, the public of NSW and Boards in other jurisdictions to promote a consistent approach in practices and procedures;
  • managing an effective dispute resolution and complaints system in accordance with powers in the Architects Act;
  • promoting a better understanding of architecture in the community;
  • overseeing a range of pathways to registration and tertiary course accreditation processes;
  • managing the Board’s interface with the public, architects, and stakeholders through effective media, website and social media management, in accordance with Board directions, to the overall benefit of the architectural profession.

The successful candidate will be recognized and respected for their experience at a senior level reporting to, or being part of a Board - as well as familiarity with legal and government processes, demonstrating leadership, highly effective personal communication and mediation skills, experience in working with partners to deliver projects with impact, an awareness of architecture and current issues, as well as relevant tertiary qualifications.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
